Hello everybody! Today we will discuss a very interesting topic. Have you ever heard what a QR code is? So, we will consider this issue and also I'll tell you about main principles of MALL.

 What is the MALL?

Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) describes an approach to language learning that is assisted or enhanced through the use of a handheld mobile device. MALL is a subset of both Mobile Learning (m-learning) and Computer-assisted language learning (CALL). MALL is language learning using mobile devices such as:
Cell (mobile) phones (including the iPhone or iPad.)
MP3 or MP4 players (e.g. iPods)
Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) (e.g. Palm Pilot, Blackberry, etc)

Main principles of MALL:

1. the delivery of content on small devices
2. the mobility of the learner
3. learning across different contents and locations
4. mobility of the learner
5. the connection of learning seamlessly across contexts
6. consideration of the context of the learner

QR-code

A Quick Response Code is a popular type of a two-dimensional barcode. It encodes alphanumeric information. To decode this, you can either use a handheld scanner or even a QR Code scanning application on your smartphone.
In fact, many smartphones such as iPhone, Xiaomi, Motorola, and Samsung now have in-built QR Code scanning feature in their stock camera application.
QR Codes are so easy to use that anybody can create and use them for their benefit.
Today, they are  commonly added to:
  • Business cards to allow people to save contact details
  • Class material to engage and teach children
  • Print advertisements to allow readers to visit the website, register for an event, etc.
  • Mobile payment applications to make transactions
  • Product packaging to allow consumers to get detailed product information
  • Event or travel tickets to authorize and log entry
  • Wedding invitation to make things easier for the guests
  • Invitation cards to help guests get the venue location on their phone’s maps application
